Loy Luo, born in China and based in New York, is a contemporary artist engaged in the philosophical and cultural dimensions of image-making. Her practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, writing, and spatial intervention, exploring how abstraction relates to human experience, cultural memory, and interdisciplinary expression.
Her work draws upon traditional philosophy and cultural memory to shape a contemporary visual language. Series such as Suspending, Before the word, and Red Mountain explore abstraction as a means of cultural reconstruction. At her New York-based Loy Luo Art Space, she develops action-based art into a practice that connects the personal and the social.
Her work has been exhibited at major institutions in China, Europe, and the United States, and is held in prominent international collections.
